ACC Loves Our Neighborhood

OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY

The love of God compels us to seek hope, justice, and good for those in our community and our neighbors. Investing your life is something bigger than yourself is a great way to experience God in your everyday.

Arvada Covenant supports Arvada West High School staff, students, and parents by volunteering with school activities and meeting other needs.

The goal of the partnership is to show appreciation and support. Members assist with many different programs including hosting athletic team banquets, attending student class presentations, supporting After-Prom, and hosting/serving staff appreciation meals.

For additional information or to volunteer, contact Jim Baer or call him at (720) 937-5887.

BeyondHome provides a comprehensive approach for families to become self-sufficient for life through a transitional housing program that focuses on education, housing, finances, and family.  Learn more at beyondhome.org or contact Vicky Reier to get involved.

The Comfort Quilters share God’s love through compassion, prayer, and hands-on service. Together, they create quilts stitched with care and infused with comforting Scripture for those facing hardship or grieving a loss.

You don’t need sewing experience to be part of this ministry. Whether you can cut fabric, tie a knot, pin pieces together—or simply want to lend a helping hand—you are welcome. The Comfort Quilters gather on the second and fourth Mondays of each month from 10 a.m. to noon.

The group also welcomes donations of child-themed fabric (¾-yard or one-yard pieces), which are used to make pillowcases for Royal Family Kids, Children’s Hospital, and other organizations serving children in need. Contact: Martha Trapp, 720-394-4194.

The Early Learning & School Age Program focuses on literacy and social-emotional development for the children while providing early intervention services, school-age supports, and a Parenting Program for teen moms. All programs are designed to transform the lives of two generations at Hope House.  Learn more.

Churches working together to transform lives and communities.

Love INC is a network of local churches and other organizations that supports those struggling in our community. Sometimes that can look like providing personal needs items, furniture, or transportation. Other times, it looks like offering educational classes, providing mentoring support, or walking alongside someone who’s grieving. But it’s always about leaning into our strengths and working together with others — because we are better together. Learn more at loveincgreaterarvada.org or contact Heather Wiebel via email or at 720-357-7790.

Royal Family KIDS creates positive and confidence-building memories for abused children 6-11 years old through a week-long camp in the summer. During the school year, there is a Club and Mentoring program for the kids who have attended camp. With the caring and trained volunteers, each child receives personal attention during the camp and club program. Approximately 70-80 volunteers are required every year. For more information on how you may be one of the volunteers, email rfkarvada@gmail.com or call/text Will LeVett at 720-233-5694 or Mikki LeVett at 720-233-5657. Visit arvadaroyalfamilykids.org for more information.

Safe overnight parking is available for families or individuals experiencing homelessness and living in a passenger vehicle in the Denver metro area. SafeLot guests have access to bathroom facilities, housing navigation, and other services. Whiz Kids offers one-to-one tutoring, positive mentoring relationships and spiritual nurture to students below the literacy and poverty lines with the Spirit of Christ.

The one-to-one relationships formed between a caring individual and a student increases their engagement in school and in the world as confident learners who understand their innate worth and have hope for their future. Students in Whiz Kids see consistent gains in reading and math each year.

Tutoring takes place at Arvada sites one day per week, Monday-Thursday, October-April. Training and resources are provided for all volunteers.

For additional information or to volunteer visit www.whizkidstutoring.com, or contact Bill Kilzer.

People in our ACC community are also involved in several other local outreach opportunities. Please email the church office for more information.
