CONFIRMATION CLASS DETAILS FOR THE 2023-24 SCHOOL YEAR
ACC has a long tradition of offering confirmation to our students. Confirmation is an important opportunity for students to dive deeper into scripture and build Godly community. We have made some exciting format changes for the upcoming year. Read all about it:
Confirmation is a two year program for 7th and 8th graders. The length of the program allows for deeper study and community for each student who participates. We will spend a full year on the Old Testament and a full year on the New Testament while also talking through discipleship practices and Covenant theology.

Typical morning schedule:
8:30-9:15 a.m.: Teaching
9:15-9:45 a.m.: Small groups
9:45-10 a.m.: Social time before attending the service together
- At least 12 sermon reviews throughout the year. The hope is that these are done in person but they can be completed online if need be.
- Serving in the church at least once a month. Options include but are not exclusive to: working in children’s ministry, serving as an usher or greeter, volunteering for an event, or serving in the student leadership team
- Attending each of the confirmation sessions and bringing your materials with you: Bible, journal, writing utensil.
- Regular attendance. You may miss one in the fall and one in the spring if necessary, but there will be things to make up so you don’t miss something important!
- Participation during confirmation classes! Aim to speak at least once a Sunday.
- And if you are in your second year: a confirmation project! (It’s not too hard, it’s a culmination of all we have learned!)
- Kayleigh Leonard, NextGen Pastor
- JDrew McGovern, NextGen Director
- Surprise guests throughout the year
We want extra time with your kids and more consistency! A once a month meeting was challenging and if a student had to miss one, they missed massive amounts of content. In order to create more consistency, strive for a better rhythm, and not disrupt the rest of your Sundays, we are asking confirmands to be at church from 8:30-9:45 a.m. for confirmation classes. This way, if a student is unable to attend one, we can easily make it up later and they aren’t missing an entire month’s worth of curriculum.
