Children’s Ministry Update

April 8th, 2021|

Arvada Covenant has a long history of caring and resourcing well youth and children’s ministry. As we look to the future this will be no different. About 6 weeks ago the council formed a family ministry committee to discuss the future structure of youth and children ministry. The team consists of Steffani Warn, Susan Palmer, Evelyn Simmons, Annette Brinkman and Mike Nunan. The team has done a couple things that we are excited to share with you.

  1. The committee created and the council approved a job description for a new Children’s Ministry Director. The position was posted on popular ministry employment sites on March 9th.
  2. The committee has formed a Children’s Ministry Director hiring team that will start the first round of interviews the week of April 21st. We are hoping to have the new Children’s Ministry Director begin their duties on June 1st.

Please be praying for the council and hiring team as they discern this important area of ministry here at ACC. If you have any questions about this process, please email Mike Nunan (mnunan@arvadacovenant.org)

Interim Congregational Care Plan (available now)

April 8th, 2021|

We aim to be a collection of imperfect people, empowered by the Holy Spirit, pursuing life transformation together in the way of Jesus, impacting our local and global neighbor with the love of Christ.

We live into the above statement through the work of our pastors and volunteers whose work touches all ages and stages.  Due to our imperfections and brokenness, needs arise where face to face relationships are vital.  During this season with less staff at ACC, we have developed a care plan for our congregation.  This plan comes out of a genuine concern for each person and caring about you as a person of unique worth as we continue to pursue Jesus and do ministry together.

Dan Brinkman and John Martz will provide visitation to members who are homebound, hospitalized or in a care home.

Cheryl Meakins and Zanne Dailey have graciously agreed to provide spiritual direction for anyone who is seeking God and would like a little help figuring out what God is up to in their lives.  If you’re new to spiritual direction, the term is a bit of a misnomer, in that, these two women will not literally direct a person, rather these women have been trained to hold prayerful space for you as you discern God’s next step in your life.  If you want to process all that is happening at ACC and how you fit into it, this is a great first step.  We ask that you contact Cheryl and Zanne directly to set an appointment and give them a small stipend for their time.

We encouraged you in crucial conversations that we need to begin “thinking like a church plant” with all hands on deck as we move into the next season of ministry.  A church plant would give anything to have a building like ours and staff ready to do ministry.  Church plants grow because they are run by volunteers so we are hoping to increase volunteer engagement through JUMP IN (see April 5 post).  Once you sign up, John Martz, Mike Nunan or myself will contact you for a conversation about where you best fit as a volunteer at ACC.

If you would like to process all the transitions at ACC with Mike Nunan, Student Ministries Director or Jodi Moore, Executive Pastor, we are available for conversation in the church lobby every Wednesday at 3pm.

Here is all of our contact info if you would like to reach out to any of us individually regarding our interim  care plan.

Our Interim Pastor Brad Bergfalk

March 26th, 2021|

Pastor Brad Bergfalk has been an ordained Covenant Pastor for over thirty years. He was born and raised in Bellevue, WA. He is a graduate of Seattle Pacific University, North Park Theological Seminary, and Drew Theological School. He is married to Roxanna for thirty-six years and together they have three young adult children (Kylie who lives in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada; Brandon and Lars who live in Omaha, NE).

Brad has served Covenant congregations in Illinois, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York, Washington State, Alaska, Nebraska, and Kansas. During the last twelve years, Brad has specialized as an Interim Pastor helping congregations re-establish their vision for ministry, encouraging staff teams, and creating opportunities for congregations to engage in healthy conversations about their future ministry. Brad is presently completing an interim ministry at Hillcrest Covenant Church in Prairie Village, KS.

Brad enjoys backpacking, skiing, painting, and exploring new places (which fits right into the pattern of being an interim pastor!?!). If asked to describe one thing he wished his congregation new about him, he says, “I am passionate about the Gospel, a good cup of tea, and conversation with new friends. I hope that I will have the opportunity to do all three of these things in Arvada.” If you wish to learn more about Pastor Brad Bergfalk you may review his resume on LinkedIn at www.linkedin.com/in/bradleybergfalk/.

As Pastor Brad and Roxi prepare to move to Arvada in the next few months, please pray for a smooth transition from his present ministry. Pray in particular for the right housing arrangement to become available to them. If you would like to send a personal greeting to Pastor Brad you may do so by sending him an e-mail at bbergfalk@arvadacovenant.org.
